It is really quite tragic that not everyone has the chance to shop at CVS. It's actually a horribly over-priced store, but if you shop right, you get the BEST deals there. Luckily there are other great deals at other stores too, so it almost doesn't matter where you live, you'll have some good deals somewhere, as Frex has shown.
Today at CVS, it was rather tragic. I actually had to use real money. They have been having great diaper deals. But the bad thing with diaper deals is that it doesn't give much money back. Most of the time when I buy something from CVS, I make sure I buy something that gives me equal to or more money back then I spend (and I always make sure to buy it with my ECB). So, if I have $10 in ECB, I make sure to buy something close to that price and make sure it will give me around $10 ECB back. Diapers are different. You can spend about $20 in ECB and only get $5 back in ECB. The deals are so good, though, that it's worth the loss of ECB! Anyway, there's my explanation on why I had to use real money. I'd used all my ECB on diapers last week and didn't have much left...
TRANSACTION #1:
Bought 7 packages of Batteries on sale at $2.99 each (normally $4.79 each) = $20.93
- Used $4 off $20 purchase = $4 off
- Used (4) $1 MFcoupons = $4 off
- Used (3) $0.75 MFcoupons = $2.25 off
= $10.68 + $0.88 tax = $11.56 total (paid in cash)
- Received $10 in ECB
TRANSACTION #2:
Bought 2 packages of diapers on sale at $7.99 each (normally $11.49 each) = $15.98
Bought 2 tubs of wetwipes on sale for $2.99 each (normally $3.49 each) = $5.98
Total for the purchase pre-coupons = $21.96
- Used (2) $1.50 coupons = $3 off
- Used (1) $2.00 coupon = $1 off
= $16.96 total + 1.07 tax = $18.03
- Used $10 ECB from previous purchase
= $8.03 remaining, which I paid in cash
- Earned $5 in ECB
TRANSACTION #3:
Bought 2 packages of diapers on sale at $7.99 each (normally $11.49 each) = $15.98
Bought 2 tubs of wetwipes on sale for $2.99 each (normally $3.49 each) = $5.98
Total for the purchase pre-coupons = $21.96
- Used $4 off $20 coupon = $4 off
- Used (2) $1.50 coupons = $3 off
- Used (1) $2.00 coupon = $2 off
= $12.96 + 1.07 = $14.03
- Used $5 ECB
= $9.03 paid in cash
- Earned $5 in ECB
